Mohamed El Kahhal

For over a century, El Kahhal family has been crafting exquisite handmade rugs. Based in Cairo’s historic Khan El Khalili since 1936, we offer a collection of hand-knotted carpets, hand-tufted rugs, and kilims, all made with the finest materials by skilled artisans. Mohamed El Kahhal, the fifth-generation rug weaver and trader, oversees operations from his grandfather’s 80-year-old factory in Basateen, where wool and silk are manually dyed, thread and hand-knotted into contemporary rugs that blend tradition with modern design. His workshops are spread across from Kafr ElSheikh and Monofeya to Beni Souef and El-Minya employing 1500 artisans all over Egypt, producing unique functional beauty.
