Karim Shaaban is an Egyptian filmmaker based in Cairo. Over the past decade, Karim has established himself as one of the most respected and sought-after advertising directors in the Arab world, and he continues to work across film, commercials, music videos, and photography. He first made a splash in the film world with his short film, NIGHTSHIFT (2020), which world premiered at Cleveland International Film Festival and went viral on YouTube, racking up over 700k+ views to date.
His most recent short film, I DON’T CARE IF THE WORLD COLLAPSES (2024), has screened across the US festival circuit including Palm Springs ShortFest, Cleveland, and Nashville. Starring Salma Abu Deif and Emad Rashad, the film will land its MENA premiere at El Gouna Film Festival.
Karim is currently in pre-production on a new feature film produced by Cairo-based Sea Cinema Productions, slated to release in 2025.
