Mohamed Abd El Hak

Mo, a driven and ambitious person, embarked on his professional journey after completing high school at Riverside Military Academy in 1992. He later enrolled at the American University in Cairo. Although facing a setback in 1994 at university, Mo persevered and joined Semiramis InterContinental in the service sector full-time.

Starting from humble beginnings as a steward in the back kitchen, he quickly moved up the ranks, transitioning to roles such as a bus boy at Felluca Brasserie and a bar boy at Ambassador Bar. Mo’s dedication and hard work eventually led him to become a waiter at The Grill, a fine dining restaurant. In 1995, out of 400 applicants, he was selected as one of the nine individuals for the prestigious management training program at Gezira Sheraton. Through this program, he gained invaluable experience by shadowing department heads and working across various departments, from housekeeping to food and beverage.

Returning to the American University in Cairo in 1996, Mo pursued his studies and graduated with a major in psychology in 1999. Eager to pursue his dreams, he ventured into different jobs before finally making a bold move in 2002. At the age of 24, Mo founded his dream project, Café Mo, introducing the first upscale casual dining concept outside of hotels in Cairo. The instant success of Café Mo led to remarkable growth, expanding to five branches and becoming a prominent dining destination in the city.

During his journey, Mo created Mo Catering, revolutionizing the catering industry by offering a viable alternative to hotel banquet catering, which was the prevailing choice at the time. Unfortunately, due to financial difficulties during the revolution, Mo had to make the difficult decision to close Café Mo in 2013. Despite facing hardships and hitting rock bottom for a three-year period, he never lost his determination and resilience.

In 2016, Mo joined forces with his sister to establish Mo Bistro. With gratitude and divine blessings, Mo Bistro transformed into a thriving chain with four outlets and a catering company. Today, the family of Mo Bistro consists of 250 members who share their hearts, love, and passion, serving and delighting customers across Cairo.

Mo’s unwavering pursuit of his dreams continues, as he prepares to launch his next exciting brand, ready to captivate the hearts and taste buds of even more people.
