Jorg took up his current post at the UN Women Egypt Country Office in May 2016. Before, he headed the UN Coordination Office in Egypt, where he facilitated UN collaboration amongst 26 UN agencies based in Egypt in the areas of programme, operations, and communications.
Prior to this, he worked as the Assistant Resident Representative and Head of Programme in the UNDP Country Office in Papua New Guinea (2010-2015). His thematic focus lay on governance issues, with a particular interest for gender and youth issues.
This focus also transcends Jorg’s engagements with UNDP’s Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery (BCPR) in New York (2008-2010), the UN Coordination Office in the Dominican Republic (2007-2008), UNDP and NGOs in Guatemala (2006-2007), and other short term engagements with other development agencies (World Bank and civil society organizations), in other parts of Latin America, Africa, and Asia-Pacific region.
Jorg holds a Bachelor degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute for Development Studies in Geneva.
