Recent graduate of the Master of Professional Studies in Digital Photography program at New York’s prestigious School of Visual Arts, Bilo Hussein brings a broad background in editorial, advertising, and communications to her work as a visual artist. A believer in the importance of new media, she uses online social networks as a platform for sharing her work with the world, in order to break the boundaries of culture and geographical distance. That work encompasses still life, fashion, and portraiture, and includes a recent series of studies of women who have, like Hussein herself, experienced both gender inequality and cultural displacement.
Bilo also holds a Masters in Marketing Communications from University of Westminster in London and was recently awarded as a semifinalist for 2014 Adobe Design Achievement Awards in photography category in New York. Her work has been exhibited in numerous cities in The United States, France and Italy as well as being featured in the New York Times, Photo District News, Italian Newspaper La Repubblica along with renowned international photography magazine, blogs.
