“Helm” which translates to “Dream” is the pioneering social enterprise focusing on empowering persons with disabilities as well as breaking barriers towards their full participation in all aspects of life. Amena cofounded Helm Consulting with Ramez Maher, serving more than 200 companies in Egypt and the region. Amena drives the organization’s vision, strategy, and growth as it provides sustainable and unique solutions for public and private institutions to foster policies and strategies towards effective and sustainable inclusion of PWD in the workplace and marketplace.
Today, under Amena’s leadership, Helm stands at the forefront of the disability field. Awarded three years (2017-2018-2021) as best practices by the Zero Project, at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna for their employment and accessibility practices.
Helm managed to exponentially grow, engaging over 17 million society members, 2700+ Persons with Disabilities, providing accessibility assessment for 1000+ venues, and partnering with 200+ institutions and subject matter experts in more than 16 countries. Additionally, it has expanded into providing inclusive services to corporates and professionals through Helm Consulting.
Amena is certified by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in “Improvement of Accessibility of Social Inclusion – Barrier Free Environment” in Japan. She was awarded Top 10 Winner among 21,000 businesses with social impact in Africa’s Business Heros (ABH) Competition founded by Jack Ma of Alibaba in 2022.
Helm Founders were awarded in 2020 the social entrepreneurship 1st prize award by MIT Pan-arab business plan competition for “Entaleq” application. They were also awarded a two-year global acceleration program (2016-2017) by Rise Egypt as they were selected to be one of the top 5 social enterprises in Egypt in 2015, where the
award ceremony was held in Harvard, USA. Helm was also selected as one of the “15 of 2015 Egypt’s Real Influencers” by CairoSCENE. She was also awarded the Total Start-Upper of the Year for Helm Consulting in 2016.
