Tarek Akil

Years of Experience 18 years, JWT, Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy and BBDO Started his career at the insurance giant Allianz as a liability underwriter where he managed top insurance portfolios such as Schlumberger, Sanita and EU embassies. With a passion for communications, he joined “Van Gogh” a local startup where he achieved his first successful pitch to launch the Japanese automotive “Subaru” brand in Egypt and strengthen its position for 2 solid years  Wasn’t long before he then joined JWT to manage the newly won Vodafone business where he and the team back then were able to put an untamed monster into shape and lay the foundations for its communication success that we all witness today. By 2009 he was approached by Saatchi to lead their P&G portfolio “Ariel and Pampers”, yet exceeding expectations he was assigned later broader roles to lead the Cadbury chocolate and gum portfolio “Trident”  where success was inevitable not just nationwide but across North Africa and Levant as well. 
Moving on he was assigned to lead the Vodafone business in Doha, Qatar with the Ogilvy team where Vodafone was a challenger brand in that small market against the state owned Ooredoo. Tarek is a strong believer in brand stories that evoke an intangible emotive experience above and beyond the obvious functionality. Now he is leading the CS team in Impact BBDO Cairo office since Jan 2019 in a very competitive and challenging business landscape managing top brands such as SODIC, ExxonMobil, Edita and Al Marai Dairy to name a few with several successful comms launches throughout the year and ensuring sustainable growth and beyond.
